    Obituary

    Mike, of Port Elgin passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 in his 102nd year. Loving husband of the late Olga. Beloved father of Mike and his wife Louise, Janice and her husband Doug Woito, and Steve and his wife Joanne. He will be fondly remembered by all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    Spending his life in service to his country and community, Mike was the oldest surviving member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the “Senior Man” with the lowest Regimental Number 13134. He joined the Force in December 1938 and served in “K” and “B” Divisions and back to “K” where he retired in January 1966. He was a Life Member of the RCMP Edmonton Vets. Mike was the Chief Security Supervisor with Ontario Hydro Construction BNPD (1966-1982); Municipal Councillor in Port Elgin (1982-1987); Past President, Service Officer and recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal (1994) Royal Canadian Legion -Port Elgin Br. 340; and a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph’s Parish in Port Elgin.

    Friends will be received on Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 6:30pm – 9:00 pm at the T.A. Brown Funeral Home, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, 519-832-2222. Parish Prayers and a Royal Canadian Legion service will be held in the chapel beginning at 6:15pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 11:00am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 920 Wellington Street, Port Elgin. Private family internment, St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Southampton.

    Memorial donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 340, the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, the RCMP Heritage Centre or your choice of charitable donations would be appreciated by the family.

    PEPE, Alfred Nicholas
    Peacefully at Gateway Haven in Wiarton, Ontario on Sunday, March 8, 2009 in his 84th year. Son of the late Alfredo (Fred) and Lucy (Minicola) Pepe of Peterborough. Survived by brother Michele Pepe of Port Elgin, Mary (Pepe) Primeau of Belleville. Predeceased by sister, Matilda (Pepe) Harris (Al); sister-in-law Olga; brother-in-law Jake. Proud, and loving Uncle to his nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by all. Alfred would spend weekends in Peterborough working with his parents in the family store at 519 (Elm) Hopkins Street. After WWII, he was employed for 39½ years at A.V. Roe (Orenda Division, Malton) until 1990. Alfred was a proud Union activist with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Alf was also active with DL717, DL78, past president of LL717T & Retirees Club. Alfred was an avid fisherman throughout his life. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Peterborough Branch 52.

    Matilda T. "Tillie" Grande, 80, of West Bangor, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Pocono Medical Center. Born: In Roseto on April 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Angela "Mary" Menecola Marino. Personal: She was the companion of the late James J. Sullivan, who died May 15, 2007. Before retiring, Tillie was employed as a machine operator for Ideal Fashions, Pen Argyl and Cali Sportswear, West Bangor. Memberships: She was a member of UNITE and was a 1946 graduate of Bangor High School. Survivors: She is survived by a daughter, Michelene A "Mickey" Unger and her husband Terry of Bethlehem; son , Peter J. Grande and his wife Mary of West Bangor; four grandchildren, Michelle Finnin, Matt Podboreski, Victor Grande and Nicole Grande; two great grand children, Aidan and Declan Finnin; and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers and a sister died earlier. Services: A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2008, at 7 PM at the Guerro & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 126 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Pen Argyl. There will be a visitation from 6 PM till time of services at the funeral home. Interment will be private.

    Peter J. Grande, 68, of West Bangor, passed away, Monday, November 6, 2023, at his residence. He was the husband of Mary A. (Nemeth) Grande, they would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, November 12, 2023.

    Born in East Stroudsburg, April 28, 1955 he was the son of the late John J. Grande and Matilda (Marino) Grande.

    He was a 1973 graduate of Pius X High School.

    For more than 30 years, Peter was a mechanic and service manager for the former Curcio Ford, Pen Argyl, and various other auto dealers. He later worked at Majestic Athletic Wear, retiring in 2021 from Fanatics.

    He enjoyed everything automotive and car shows. He also enjoyed being outdoors, with his family and friends and his German Shepherds.

    In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by a son, Victor, a daughter, Nicole and her husband Lee, and a sister, Michelene “Mickey”.

    There will be a visitation, Saturday, November 11, 2023, beginning at 9 AM until 11 AM at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl. Interment will be in St. Roch’s Cemetery, West Bangor.
